Why it is different

Design that performs, not just photographs

Most spaces are designed for the photo. We design for what happens after: the bookings, the nightly rate, the reviews, and how a home actually works once you are living in it.

That comes from the way every project starts, with the market, the goal, and a real budget, before a single thing is chosen. The pretty part is the easy part. Making it perform is the work.

How it works

A simple process, whatever the project

01

Strategy

We start with the goal. For a rental, that is the market, the target guest, and sleeping capacity. For a home, it is how you actually live in it. Then we can work together to set a realistic budget.

02

Design

A mood board and color palette first, so you see the direction before anything is sourced and bought. Then layouts, floor plans, and the furniture and lighting schedule.

03

Sourcing

An itemized, shoppable list, curated and aligned with the design direction, chosen to your budget and built to last.

04

Install, or DIY

We can handle procurement, delivery, and install, right through styling and photos. Or hand you the full plan to set up yourself, on your own schedule.

Who designs it

Design led by someone who thinks in numbers

Michael Intérieurs is led by Michael Charles, who spent 20 years in data science before graduating from the New York Institute of Art and Design and founding the studio.

That background is the difference. Every choice is made for how a space actually performs once it is lived in or listed, not just how it looks in a single photo. Design is not only aesthetics here, it is strategy.

Questions

Answered before you ask

What does Michael Intérieurs do?

We are an interior design studio that designs short-term rentals and Airbnbs, rental-friendly apartments, and full home renovations. In person in New York City and across upstate New York, focused on Florida and other key rental markets, and virtually for clients nationwide. Every choice is made for how a space performs, not just how it looks in one photo.

How much does interior design cost?

A Quick Fix consultation starts at $500, virtual and DIY design from $1,000 for one small room, full-service residential from $1,200, and a turnkey short-term rental setup from $8,700 for a 2,000 square foot one-bedroom. Take the quiz for an estimate, or see the full pricing.

Do you only design Airbnbs, or homes too?

Both. Short-term rental design is where the studio is best known, but we design primary homes and second homes as well, from a single room to a full renovation. The same strategy-first process applies either way.

Do you work outside New York and Florida?

Yes. In-person work is focused on New York City, upstate New York in the Catskills and Hudson Valley, and Florida, and we design virtually for clients anywhere in the United States.

What makes your design approach different?

Michael spent 20 years in data science before founding the studio, so decisions are made through a structured, highly collaborative process and on how a space performs. For a rental that means bookings, rate, and reviews; for a home it means how the rooms actually work day to day. Design here is treated as strategy, not only aesthetics.

Do you offer virtual or remote design?

Yes. With virtual design, or e-design, you get the full plan, layouts, and a shoppable list delivered online, and you install it yourself. It is the most affordable way to work with the studio, from anywhere.
