A vibrant, colorful kitchen for a family of five
When our clients bought their family home in the Greater Paris area, the kitchen was sad and closed off. We opened it up and turned it into the lively, hard-working heart of the home.
The original kitchen was enclosed, with a large picture window facing the dining room that gave the whole space a claustrophobic, interrogation-room feel. It was not the room a family of five deserved to gather in.
The brief was a genuinely functional kitchen: real storage, a layout that works for five people, and room to cook and sit together. Everything followed from how the family actually uses the space day to day.
We opened the room up, framed the stairs with a steel-and-wood partition that keeps the light, and built warm wood cabinetry around an island with seating. A green zellige backsplash and a terrazzo floor bring in the color and texture that reflect this family’s vibrant world.
The result is a gorgeous, lively, mid-century-leaning kitchen that is as functional as it is photogenic. Colorful without being loud, and built to be lived in.
